Professor Armondo Hawkins leads our Adult Competition Team, bringing decades of grappling experience and a proven championship pedigree to Team Octopus Jiu Jitsu.
Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Professor Armondo began wrestling in 1986 and quickly established himself as one of the area’s most accomplished athletes. During his high school career, he made history as the first freshman state qualifier and medalist at his school and went on to become a four-time State Qualifier, an achievement earned by only a select few competitors in the region.
In 2012, Professor Armondo transitioned into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, continuing his competitive journey in Kansas City. He relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2016, where he began training under Professor Robert Lagasca as a blue belt. As a core member of the original Redemption Fight Team, he played a key role in securing multiple tournament victories at both the regional and national levels.
Professor Armondo was awarded his Black Belt in 2022, solidifying his place among the elite competitors and coaches in the sport.
